Weekly New Hope News - Sep 21, 2022
Dear New Hope Families,
The new school year is in full swing and we are having a great time! It has been wonderful to get back to some of the “normal” things we love to do as a school, including field trips, having guest speakers for chapel, having parent volunteers on campus, and planning fun community events. I will be sending out these newsletters weekly to let you know what events are coming up.
In the midst of getting back to normal, I am mindful that, for many students, the experiences of the last two years may have been more impactful than we realize. Students had events canceled, missed weeks of school at a time, and had to live with the uncertainty of ever changing rules and regulations, on top of uncertainty about a new virus. While we tried to shield our students from these realities as much as possible, there were many changes we had to make that made the last few years different from past years. As we get back to normal routines and expectations, I would encourage you to talk with your students about how they are feeling this year. Are they excited? Do they fear a return to how things were before? Is there any anxiety around coming to school? We want to be a part of helping families heal, recover, and move forward into the great year that the Lord has prepared for us!
Parking and Drop-off/Pick-up Reminders
Please drop off and pick up students in the designated areas only. If you need to pick up a student early or come on campus, please park in the lower parking lot on Hidden Valley Rd. and enter through the gate at the top of the stairs. The staff parking lot off of New Hope Rd. is not to be used for drop off or pick up at any time during the day or after school as it creates traffic congestion and unsafe conditions for students.
FACTS Facts
Did you know your FACTS Family Portal is your go-to place for information on your student’s grades, lesson plans, behavior reports, attendance records, and upcoming events? You can also access your financial account to pay incidental bills, add to your student’s lunch account, or make changes to your banking information. You can find teacher’s email addresses under School then Classes. Click on the class of the teacher you would like to contact. To login to this great resource, go to www.factsmgt.com. I have attached instructions for creating a Family Portal login if you never have before, or if you need a refresher for signing in!
In Need of Subs!
We are in need of substitute teachers at both the elementary and secondary level. If your schedule allows you to be available to sub occasionally, or you know someone who would be interested, please have them email Molly Ward at mollyw@newhopechristian.net for application materials. Teachers provide all the materials, you just need a willing heart!
High School Retreat
Our High Schoolers are leaving tomorrow morning for an overnight spiritual emphasis retreat. Please be in prayer for safety and a blessed time of spiritual growth!
Varsity Volleyball Sportsmanship Award
Our varsity volleyball players received a sportsmanship award nomination at a recent volleyball game. Congratulations, girls! Here is the email from OSAA:
OSAA Sportsmanship Award Nomination
Congratulations!
New Hope Christian Varsity Volleyball
I am writing to congratulate you on your recent sportsmanship nomination. This is a recognition program that gives OSAA sport officials the opportunity to highlight the positive sportsmanship that they see on the court. Each program that receives a nomination will be eligible to receive the OSAA Sportsmanship Award for their activity, which includes 100 OSAA Cup points for your school!
In a recent match, your Varsity Volleyball program exhibited the great qualities that the OSAA looks for in teams, programs, and communities across the state, and your match official noticed!
Keep up the GREAT work!
Have a blessed week,
Annie Burnham
