Psalm 61:2
"I call to you when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
I'm blessed to say 2024 marks my 10th year in education overall and my 4th year at New Hope.
I was born and raised in the Portland/Vancouver area, moving to the North Oregon Coast during high school where I graduated and attended college. The majority of my adult professional career was spent in the medical field, working in hospital emergency rooms and clinics. It was a career I thoroughly enjoyed, and at the time, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Well, guess what the Lord did? He set my feet upon a path I'd never contemplated before! I've always enjoyed working with kids, having been active in my church nursery and volunteering at Vacation Bible School, but I'd not ever thought of teaching.
An opportunity came up to go to work for the public school system. With a deep breath and a whole lot of prayer, I jumped at the chance and have been blessed ever since. I can now firmly say, "I can't imagine doing anything else!" As much as I love teaching the academic fundamentals, teaching my students about the mighty love Jesus has for them is the highlight of my day, every day!
I'm the proud mom of a daughter, Ava, and a dachshund, Gemma.
